Every fall, history comes alive in Wood River, Illinois, at the Camp Dubois Fall Rendezvous. Held the fourth full weekend of October at the reconstructed Camp Dubois site, this annual event transports visitors to the early 1800s, recreating the spirit of the mountain man and fur trade era.

What to Expect

The Fall Rendezvous offers a full historical immersion, giving guests the chance to see, hear, and experience what life was like for trappers, traders, and frontiersmen of the past. Primitive camps fill the grounds, traders and artisans showcase handmade goods, and the air carries the sound of muskets, laughter, and crackling campfires.

Activities and Demonstrations

There’s something for everyone to enjoy:

  • Black Powder Shoots – Watch history in action with traditional black powder shooting demonstrations on Saturday.

  • Bow Shoots – On Sunday, skilled archers show their precision with a variety of bow shoots.

  • Tomahawk Throwing & Knife Block Games – Test your aim or cheer on participants in these classic frontier challenges.

  • Crafts & Trades – Wander through tents and booths where artisans demonstrate traditional crafts and traders offer goods made in the style of the 18th and early 19th centuries.

  • Food Vendors – Enjoy hearty food and refreshments as you take in the sights and sounds of the Rendezvous.
