Collaboration Driving Revitalization and Economic Growth in Wood River

Last Updated 3/10/2026

The ongoing revitalization of Wood River is the result of strong leadership, strategic investment, and meaningful collaboration between city officials and community partners. Through the dedicated efforts of city leaders Steve Palen, Brad Wells, and Tom Stalcup, Wood River continues to make significant progress in strengthening infrastructure, enhancing quality of life, and positioning the community for long-term economic growth.

These officials work tirelessly to move the city forward through key initiatives that improve the daily lives of residents and create opportunities for businesses to thrive. Major infrastructure improvements such as the Sewer Separation Project, along with continued road and sidewalk upgrades, are laying the groundwork for sustainable development and a stronger foundation for the community.

At the same time, quality-of-life investments are helping shape a vibrant and welcoming city. Projects like the Downtown Dog Park, the Police Department Walking Trail, and the upcoming City Center development in downtown Wood River are transforming public spaces and creating places where residents, visitors, and businesses can connect.

Equally important is the spirit of collaboration that is driving Wood River’s progress. The City of Wood River and the Wood River Business Alliance (WRBA) continue to work together to support downtown growth, attract new investment, and bring new businesses into the community. Through shared goals and coordinated efforts, the partnership is helping to create momentum that benefits the entire Riverbend region.

“Our community’s progress is the result of collaboration and a shared vision,” said Kristen Burns, Director of the Wood River Business Alliance. “We are proud to work alongside the City of Wood River as we continue building a stronger downtown and welcoming new businesses that contribute to our local economy.”

With a common vision of establishing Wood River as a thriving economic hub for the Riverbend area, city leadership and the WRBA remain committed to creating an environment where businesses succeed, and the community continues to grow.

The Wood River Business Alliance is proud to play a small role in supporting the City’s efforts and helping move the vision of these dedicated officials forward. Together, these partnerships are helping ensure that Wood River’s future is bright, vibrant, and full of opportunity.
